Holy Family Elementary is working to implement STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Music) instruction across the curriculum at all grade levels.
To make the many supplies and materials available to classroom teachers, the school is creating mobile STEAM carts stocked with a variety of educational tools and supplies (marbles, coding robots, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, etc.).
Several months ago, Bank of Hays applied for a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka under its $500 for Good program for Holy Family's project.
The grant award for the school was announced Wednesday.
The $500 will be used to help purchase and stock the STEAM carts, so students can more easily engage in hands-on learning opportunities.
