Francis “Frank” A. VanMatre, passed away peacefully Monday, February 28, 2022, at his home at the age of 68.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, KS with Pastor Dave Hutson officiating. The services will be steamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, KS.
He was born September 26, 1953, in Kearney, NE to Clifferd and Lila Mai (Heider) VanMatre.
Frank was united in marriage November 24, 1973, to Pamela Frink. To this marriage two daughters were born, Holly and Heather. He married Darla Reynolds in 1994 and gained two step-children, Jeremy and Rachelle.
Frank was a hard-working, dedicated employee of EATON manufacturing in Kearney, NE for 34 years. After retirement, Frank worked for BIH Heating and Plumbing. Frank enjoyed his weekends with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed updating and caring for the farm.
Survivors include his wife Darla of Cedar, KS; daughters Holly (Robb) Anway of Kearney, NE and Heather (Cory) Smallcomb of Gibbon, NE; step-daughter Rachelle (TJ) Steckelberg of Boulder City, NV; Brothers Nick (Deb) VanMatre, Todd (Tia) VanMatre and Luke VanMatre all of Gibbon, NE; sisters Gail (Clyde) Jones of Lee Summit, MO and Joan (Tim) McAuliff of Papillion, NE; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife’s parents, his brother-in-law Dean Reynolds, and step-son Jeremy Johnson.
Friends may sign the register book from noon until 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice Services.
