Woman and teen dead, 4 injured after wrong-way crash on I-70

GOVE COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just before 1a.m. Saturday in Gove County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Chevy Suburban driven by Christina Satana, 39, Pueblo, CO., was westbound in the eastbound lane on Interstate 70 just east of the Park exit. The SUV struck an eastbound 2012 Hyundai Sonota driven by Alexie Echo-Hawk,16, Mosca, CO, head-on.

After impact, the Hyundai spun into the south ditch and the Suburban  into the median.

Satana and Echo-Hawk were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter.

EMS transported three passenger in the Suburban including a 10-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy and  a 4-year-old boy all from Pueblo, CO., to Gove County Medical Center. EMS also transported a passenger in the Hyundai identified as Walter Roy Echo-Hawk, 46, Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Gove County Medical Center.

The driver and children in the Suburban were not restrained, according to the KHP.
