⚽ HHS falls short to Liberal

HAYS - Hays High boys’ soccer turned in another strong defensive effort Thursday but came up short at home, dropping a 1-0 Western Athletic Conference decision to state-ranked Liberal at the HHS field.

It was the third consecutive one-goal loss for the Indians, who fell to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the WAC.

Liberal, ranked seventh in the state in Class 6A, scored the only goal of the day about midway through the first half, and the game remained scoreless the rest of the way.

With the win, the Redskins are now 9-1 overall, including a 3-1 WAC record.

Hays High will try to get back to .500 on the season when it entertains Hesston in a non-conference match Saturday at the HHS field. Starting time is 1 p.m. for the JV game, followed by the varsity
