First Call for Help receives $25,000 for temporary housing project

First Call for Help has received a $25,000 grant award from the Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program.

This award will be used in the First Step Housing, Phase ll Remodeling project. This project at 607 E. 13th will provide temporary housing and support for individuals residing in Ellis County who are struggling with homelessness.

“Housing struggles are expected to increase as the pandemic continues to affect businesses and jobs. We are excited and grateful to Union Pacific for this grant and the opportunities it represents," said Linda Mills, executive director.

First Call for Help was established in 1996 and is committed to assisting others who are in crisis and need.

Union Pacific Railroad's Community Ties Giving Program awarded $10.2 million in local grants to more than 930 nonprofit organizations across its 23-state system.
