Steve Armstrong, 70 years old, passed away Thursday at his home in Tyrone, OK, on March 16, 2023. He was born in El Paso, Texas on July 29, 1952, to Dorothy Armstrong and JD Armstrong Sr.
Steve wrestled while attending Liberal High School and graduated in 1970. He had experience in various occupations including Second Street Jack and Jill, AAA Electric, Carlile Water Well, Purina Mills, Nash Finch, DeKalb, USD 480, and SCCC. He retired from SCCC in 2017 where he deeply enjoyed his coworkers and working in the ground’s maintenance.
Steve enjoyed excelling at his work, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed coaching Little League football and watching Notre Dame and Kansas City Chiefs games.
Steve was survived by his wife of 26 years Beverley Olney (Tyrone, OK), his brothers JD Armstrong Jr. (Wichita, KS), Doug Armstrong (WaKeeney, KS), and Bobby Armstrong (Belaire, KS); his son Jon Armstrong (Hays, KS), his daughter Michelle (Armstrong) Robinson (Wichita, KS), his step-daughter Charlotte Sanders (Liberal, KS), his step-son Todd Sanders (Arcadia, OK) and his grandchildren Brandon Parker, Jace Armstrong, Dawson Armstrong, and step-grandson Brennan Sanders.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson (Erin Armstrong).
There will not be a public service and the family will have a private memorial at a later date.
