⚾ Larks cruise past A's in home opener

HAYS – On a night members of the NBC World Series presented the Larks with their championship trophy from last season, the Hays Larks provided the fireworks by hitting five home runs in a 13-3 rout of the Dodge City A’s in their home and Rocky Mountain Baseball League opener at Larks Park.

Lane Sparks, Jackson Babcock and Taber Stokes all homered in the Larks (3-0, 1-0 RMBL) four run first inning. After the A’s used a solo homer in the second to close the gap tp 4-2, Ray Jesse answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the inning.

The Larks pushed the lead to 6-2 on a Dylan LaRue two-run single. Trent Baker added an RBI single in the sixth. Babcock hit a two-run homer to close out the scoring in the eighth.

Three Larks pitchers combined to strike out 14 with only two walks. Dalton Campbell allowed two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over four innings and was awarded the win. Braxton Bjur allowed on earned run on two hits over three innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Julio Ramos pitched the eighth and struck out two.
