Linda Roesch, 72, rural Atwood, died Monday, February 22, 2021, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Linda Lucille Weed was born December 24, 1948, in Colby, KS, the first daughter of Kenneth and Anna Christena “Chris” (Jensen) Weed. Linda spent her youth growing up in Levant and graduated from Brewster High School in 1966. After graduation, she attended Key Beauty School in Colorado Springs and graduated with her cosmetology license in 1967. On June 10, 1967 she was united in marriage with Richard Lee Roesch. Dick & Linda spent the first year of their marriage in Goodland, KS where she worked as a licensed cosmetologist. In 1968 they moved to rural Rawlins County where they spent the remainder of their lives farming and ranching. They were blessed with four children: Tracy Lyn, Mandy Lyn, Karen Ann, and Scott Charles.

Linda was an active farm and ranch wife, often helping with cattle work, bringing meals to the field, cooking for cattle working crews and making many parts runs. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and most of all, cooking for her friends and family. Together, Dick & Linda enjoyed traveling to attend antique and bit & spur auctions. Linda was a renowned cook, especially known for her meringue pies, fried chicken and potato salad. Throughout the years, she was active in many organizations including serving as a Girl Scout leader, Theta Kappa, Hobby Club, and Master Gardeners. Linda was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church after being confirmed into the Lutheran faith on August 18th, 1991. She was an active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, serving on the funeral luncheon committee for many years.

As her family grew, the role she loved the most was “Grandma”. She could always be counted on to host a “cousins sleepover” and rarely missed a birthday or holiday. She enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s activities. She was a familiar face in the stands for many years and was known as “Grandma Linda” to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother & father-in-law, Fritz & Frances Roesch; uncles, Jack Weed and Bobby Lee Schroeder and brother-in-law, Joe Heath.

She is survived by her husband, Dick, of the home; children, Tracy (Dwight) Coleman, of Imperial, NE, Mandy (Brad) Leitner, of Atwood, Karen Bryant (Jim Wright) of Manhattan, and Scott (Jessica) Roesch, of rural Atwood; nine grandchildren, Wade (Adriell) Elwood, Taylor (Weston) Bainter, Mallory (Tyler) Oxford, Lexy Leitner, Macy Coleman, Jason Bryant, Ethan Bryant, Cora Roesch and Ladd Roesch; three great-grandchildren, Whitley Elwood, Pryor Elwood and Delilah Bainter; sisters, Barbara (Albert) Schmidt, of Oakley, and Trudy Heath of Dighton; brother-in-law, Chuck (Beatriz) Roesch, of Colby, and sister-in-law, Marcia (Dave) Wagoner, of Colby; aunts, Helen Schroeder and Mary Weed, both of Levant; cousins, Robert Schroeder and Leon Schroeder, of Levant, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.She will be sadly missed by many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Atwood, KS with inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
