Todd D. Powell, an attorney familiar to many in the Hays area, has joined Jeter Law Firm LLP as a partner. Powell previously practiced in Hays at Todd Powell Law LC, as well as Glassman, Bird & Powell, L.L.P. In addition to more than ten years of private practice in Hays, Todd previously served as general counsel and executive assistant to the president of Fort Hays State University, practiced at the Topeka firm of Cavanaugh, Smith & Lemon, P.A., and served as a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals.
Altogether, Powell brings close to thirty years of legal experience in a wide range of areas, including personal injury and civil litigation, transactional law, contract law, employment and labor law, municipal and governmental entity law, divorce and family law, and appellate practice.
In addition to his professional work, Powell is and has been involved in the community. He previously served on the Ellis County Economic Development Coalition, including as president of the board, has served on the board for the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a past president of the Hays Kiwanis Club.
Powell was part of the Leadership Topeka Class of 2003, was in the 2005 Leadership Kansas class, and was the Leadership Kansas Local Program Chair for Hays in 2010. He is currently an adjunct instructor at Fort Hays State University and was formerly an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Law teaching pre-trial procedure.
