Larks knock off Collegians for third straight win

HAYS – The Hays Larks pounded out 14 hits and had two pitchers combine to strike out six and walk only one in a 7-2 victory over the Boulder Collegians Wednesday night at Larks Park.

Starter Drew Buhr (1-2) allowed two runs on six hits over five innings for the win. Buhr struck out three and walked one. Wyatt Divis pitched four scoreless innings of relief and gets the save. Divis allowed two hits while striking out three with no walks.

The Larks (9-4) scored three runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to overcome a 2-1 deficit. They opened the fifth with four straight singles, the last by Grant Lung which drove in two runs to give the Larks the lead for good.

Matt Cavanagh had three of the Larks 14 hits. Cameron Pehrson added two including a solo home run.

The Larks continue their seven-game home stand Thursday with the second of three against the Collegians. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. You can hear the game on KAYS beginning at 6:45 p.m.
