Ellis County commissioners will discuss multiple county operations updates during their upcoming meeting, including proposed improvements to the county jail security system and software updates within the court system.
Ellis County Sheriff Scott Braun is expected to present information regarding the jail security system upgrade.
According to the agenda, The revised proposal provides Ellis County with a modernized video and access control system while reducing the initial project cost and offering long-term maintenance and support savings through the optional care plan agreement.
Also on the agenda is Teresa Greenwood, chief court services officer, who will give an update on the Repath software that was purchased in December 2025.
The software is a tool to use on high-risk supervision and bond cases that gives location, curfew checks, text messaging for appointments and drug testing.
This tool has been used to protect victims of abuse and gives the court services office a proactive approach to supervision that was not available before.
In other business
- Commissioners are also expected to discuss naming plans tied to the Ellis County Fairgrounds Deutschefest Hall along with county property matters in Schoenchen presented by Kyle Zimmerman with the city of Schoenchen.
- Comment regarding the Ellis EMS and fire station is also scheduled from Ellis resident Ellen Riedel.
- Additional agenda items include consideration of motor vehicle fee changes presented by County Treasurer Vern Ruder and discussion of COLA adjustments and elected officials salaries.
