HAYS - The 2023 Western Athleic Conference Golfer of the Year is headed to Fort Hays State University to continue her athletic journey.
Hays High's Abbie Norris averaged 82.5 strokes per round this past season. It marked an improvement of 15 strokes from her freshman season when she medaled in two of ten tournaments and made the All-WAC 2nd team list.
She improved by nearly ten strokes per round her sophomore year and medaled in seven of ten tournaments. Norris made the All-WAC 1st team, a spot she would remain for three years.
Norris twice made the 5A Second Team All-State after finishing in 14th as a junior and 11th as a senior at the two days 5A State tournament.
Her senior season average of 82.5 is the 12th best season in Hays High Lady Indian Golf history. She medaled in 17 of 20 tournaments in her junior and senior campaigns.
Norris was part of 40 varsity tournaments in four years, medaling as a team in 38 of those. 24 times the Indians took home first and eleven times second. This past season the Indians were state runner-up at the 5A tournament.
