Tony Hinson, 59, passed away May 5 in rural Great Bend. He was born April 7, 1962 at Concordia, to Gary and Patricia (Blake) Hinson.

He married Michelle Erskin May 18, 1985 at Great Bend.   

Tony graduated from Great Bend High School in 1981. He installed overhead doors for C&V Home Improvement/Kansas Doors. He enjoyed collecting odds and ends items, garage sales and loved traveling to Las Vegas.

Tony loved to help everybody, was an excellent handyman, a true jack of all trades and was the go-to man when you had a problem. He never knew a stranger. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who called him Papa Tone.

Survivors include, his wife, Michelle Hinson of the home; two sons, Tyler Hinson and Jessi Ziepfel of Bluffton, S.C., and Blake Hinson of Midland, Texas; a daughter, Janell Simmons and husband Matt of Topeka; his mother and father, Gary and Pat Hinson of Great Bend; his father and mother in law, Don and Sharon Erskin of Great Bend; a brother, Greg Hinson and wife Alina, and a sister, Tammy Hinson, all of Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Kendall Simmons and Abby Hinson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 11 at Bryant Funeral Home.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding.

Inurnment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery North. In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to the Grandchildren's Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
