
Louise E. (Ohl) Korbe, 94, died Monday, May 4, 2020 at her home in
Garden City, Kansas. She was born June 19, 1925 in Jamay, Jalisco,
Mexico the daughter of Juan Nicklas & Soledad (Garcia) Campos.
Louise grew up with her family in Wichita County, Kansas. She
graduated from Wichita County Community High School in 1943. Louise
then attended and graduated from Salt City Business School in Hutchinson
in 1945. On June 17, 1950, she married Willis Ohl in Marienthal,
Kansas. They lived in Segwick County, Kansas until his death in
September of 1954. Louise moved back to Wichita County in 1955. In
1963, she lived in Wichita, Kansas where she attended and graduated from
Wichita School of Cosmetology. She came back to Leoti, Kansas where
she worked as the owner and operator of Vogue Beauty Shop. On November
4, 1967, Louise married Francis Korbe in Leoti, Kansas. They moved to
Garden City in 1968. While living in Garden City, Louise worked for
several years helping her daughter-in-law make drapes with her business
“The Window.” Francis died in February 1994. She is also preceded in
death by her parents; a brother Charles Campos; and a sister Magdalena
Cordova. Louise’s other sister Ignacia “Inez” Blau of Leoti also
recently died.
Louise was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City
where she was very active in the church choir and helping with funeral
dinners. She was also a member of the Altar Society; a lifetime member
of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary; the Finney County Senior Center Humdinger
Band; and she also worked with the Diocese of Dodge City Deanery.
Louise enjoyed music, traveling, sewing, crocheting, handy work, and
cooking.
Survivors include a son Steve & wife Lyn Ohl of Garden City; a
daughter Melissa Leiker of Garden City; a brother Rafael “Ray” Campos of
Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren Ronald “Butch” & wife
Tracy Leiker, Timothy & wife Lindsey Leiker, Laci & husband Joe
Salazar, Winsom & husband Colin Lamb, and Willis & wife
Stephanie Ohl; and nine great-grandchidlren Hannah Leiker, Kaden Leiker,
Acacia Leiker, Trinity Leiker, Emry Salazar, Kyler Lamb, Isaac Lamb,
Rylan Ohl, & Bryson Ohl.
A Memorial Mass for Louise will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
January 16, 2021 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Rev.
Warren Stecklein as Celebrant. There will be no calling hours. The
family suggests memorials given to St. Dominic Music Ministry in care of
Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
