A heat advisory has been issued for most of western Kansas, including Ellis County, on Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m.
With a projected high of 100 degrees Monday, the mercury will jump to a high of 107 Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Dodge City said.
High temperatures are expected to remain in the triple digits at least through Sunday, the NWS predicted, with highs ranging between 100 and 106 for the next week.
There is a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms Thursday and Saturday evenings. Otherwise, skies are expected to remain clear.
