ELLSWORTH — The USD 327 Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo Board of Education has announced the selection of Josh Lanning as the district's new superintendent.
Lanning will take over July 1 after the departure of Dale Brungardt at the end of this school year, according to a news release posted Wednesday on the district's website.
Lanning has a broad educational experience, as a teacher, coach, and administrator in Kansas. He currently is the superintendent of USD 237 Smith Center.
The Kansas Association of School Boards, who assisted in the application process for the district, received nearly 20 applications and presented them to the Board of Education at a special meeting on Jan. 21. The board reviewed those applications and narrowed that list to four finalists who were interviewed.
"USD327 Ellsworth welcomes Mr. Lanning to the Bearcat family and is looking forward to his future leadership," the board noted in the news release.
