Former Phillipsburg resident, Faye Ann Hunziker-McGuire, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Hays, KS at the age of 94.

She was born September 12, 1931, in Prairie View, KS the daughter of Dewey and Mary (Fisk) Breese. She graduated from the Logan High School with the Class of 1949.

On June 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Junior (Cotton) Lee Hunziker.  To this union 4 children were born: JoLene, Jacque, Jerry, and Kurtis. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before Junior’s passing in 2000. She later married Leland Wayne McGuire on March 8, 2004. Faye and Leland enjoyed many years together before Leland passed in 2015.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Jerry, sisters DeLene Woodring and Phyllis Lorence & family; and brothers Dewey Dean and Joe Breese.

Survivors include her daughters JoLene Bay of Kansas City, MO and Jacque Ausmus and husband John of McKinney, TX; son Kurtis Hunziker and wife Christine of Hays, KS; seven grandchildren: Logan Bay (Brenda Hernandez) of Chicago; Dewey O’Neill (Cindy) of Allen, TX; Patrick O’Neill (Stacey) of Barnhart, MO; Jeremy Thomas (Carly) of Eudora, KS; Korey Hunziker (Aja) of Kansas City, KS; Kara VanderGiesen (Bret) of Hays, KS; Camryn Hunziker of Hays, KS; and twelve great-grandchildren: Rachelle Palme; Donovan O’Neill; Sara and Carson O’Neill; Shirey and Chazley Thomas; Addelyn, Easton and Oaklyn VanderGiesen; Maverick and Korey Junior (KJ) Hunziker; and Lola Hernandez Bay.

Faye held many roles throughout her life. After spending time as a stay-at-home mother running a small daycare, she went on to work at Phillips County Nursing Home. She filled many roles including Social Service Designee, Activities Director, CNA, and LPN. She loved her work and the people she cared for. She also volunteered for the local school and community by serving as a room mother, Sunday school teacher, and scout leader.

Faye enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, baking, gardening, doing puzzles and playing cards. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams: the Chiefs, the Royals, and the K-State Wildcats. She cherished the moments spent with her family, and above all, treasured the time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services for Faye will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.  The services will be streamed on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Faye will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The family will be receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening all at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg.
