WAKEENEY - The TMP-Marian Lady Monarchs brought home the team title
from the Trego Invitational Saturday in WaKeeney.
The Monarchs opened the day by going 2-1 in pool play.
They lost to Oakley in three sets, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, but bounced back with wins over Stockton, 25-12, 25-6, and Osborne, 25-4, 25-16.
In the semifinals, TMP defeated Russell in two sets, 25-22, 25-23. The Monarchs then avenged their earlier loss to Oakley by winning the championship match in two sets, 25-21, 25-21.
TMP (9-7) coach Megan Gottschalk said the Monarchs were short-handed, playing with eight players because of an illness.
TMP will travel to Russell on Tuesday for a triangular with Hoxie.
