
Patrick Frank Herrman, 78, Salina, KS passed away March 10, 2025 at Smoky Hill Health Rehabilitation Center. He was born to Balser and Rosanna (Legleiter) Herrman on 3/17/1946 at La Crosse, KS. He moved to Salina, KS from Sturgis, SD in June of 2024. He resided in Sturgis for 5 ½ years.
Pat graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in 1965. He enlisted in the United State Air Force after graduation. Pat was a Vietnam Veteran having served in Cam Ranh Bay, South Vietnam having reached the rank of Sergeant. His MOS was Air Passenger Specialist. He was honorably discharged in February 1969. In June of 2017 he was able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC with his brother David. Pat was a Lifetime member of the VFW.
Patrick married Lois Karst on May 11, 1974. Lois passed away in January 2014 before they could celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary. To this union they adopted two children. He was a former member of Messiah Lutheran Church Hays, KS. He was formerly married to Linda Meitler.
Pat was a Transportation Driver for Hays School District, Hays KS and Lake Havasu School District, Lake Havasu, AZ. While employed at Lake Havasu School District he won several first place trophies for their Bus Drivers Rodeos. He was also their Bus Driver Trainer where he received many awards and certificates for his excellence in the training program. He retired from the Lake Havasu School District. During his years he was also an Oil Tank water truck driver and Semi-truck driver.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas Herrman, Las Vegas, NV and a daughter, Kaylene Herrman, South Dakota. Three grandchildren Perry, Maxwell and Brixton. Brothers David(Charlotte)Herrman, Salina, KS, Jerry(Gayle)Herrman, Garden City, KS and John(Deb)Herrman, Osborne, KS. Brother-in-laws Tom(Mary)Karst, Hays, KS, Mark(Shannon)Karst, Victoria, KS and Lance Smith, Hays, KS. Sister-in-laws Diane(Gene)Schmidt, Great Bend, KS, and Marilyn(Larry)Schumacher, Lyons, KS. Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents Bill and Rosanna Herrman, brother Samuel Herrman. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Doris Karst. Brother-in-laws Steve Karst and Doug Karst. Sister-in-laws Lanita Smith and Patty Karst. Nephews Dustin Karst and Joey Herrman.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 10:30 AM in the Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel with Rev. Del Strecker officiating. Inurnment will follow at 3:00 PM in the Mt. Allen Cemetery in Hays, KS. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice; 1003 Albert Ave., Salina, KS 67401.
