Larks rout Boulder for second straight win

LASALLE CO. – The Hays Larks collected 19 hits and scored 12 runs in the ninth inning alone Sunday as they downed the Boulder Collegians 20-0 for their second straight win.

The Larks took an early 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI double by Corbin Truslow in the top of the first inning.

Hays added three more in the third inning as Wyatt Divis scored on a wild pitch and Cameron Peherson hit a two-run homerun giving Hays a 4-0 lead.

In the fifth inning Sean Cooper drove in a pair of runs to put Hays up 6-0 and they added two more with two-run triple by Dylan Dreiling in the sixth inning as Hays built an 8-0 lead.

In the top of the ninth Hays sent 17 men to the plate as they scored 12 runs.

Cameron Peherson homered twice and drove in seven runs and Grant Lung homered and drove in three in the Hays win.

Three pitchers combined for a complete game shutout. Trevor Munsch worked two scoreless innings of relief and earned the win.

The Larks are 8-4 and will host the Collegians on Wednesday.
