Alan Ray Mishler, born on January 31, 1956, to John and Fern Mishler of Ransom, Kansas passed away on March 3, 2025.
Alan grew up on the farm with his brother Bruce where their mischievous nature began. He was active in school and sports, playing football and basketball. He helped John on the farm and had a lot of adventures with his brother, which were recounted in much happiness at holidays and family gatherings. After high school, Alan attended Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. Upon completing a year at Bethel, Alan transferred and graduated with a degree in agriculture from Fort Hays State University.
He married Lavonne Wasinger, daughter of Nick and Wilma Wasinger. Together, they had four children, Tanci, Tanner, Beau, and Brianna. Settling in Ransom, Alan took over the family farm and raised crops and cattle. Always the life of the party, Alan enjoyed softball, golf, dancing, playing cards, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, watching NASCAR, or out on the lake boating. If he wasn’t working on the weekends, you would often find him at Cedar Bluff Lake or playing pinochle at the Wasingers.
After a divorce, Alan met and later married Susan McDonald. Together, they loved cooking, boating on the lake, and traveling, especially to Jamaica where they were married and returned every year. They enjoyed Branson and Table Rock Lake and bought a home there. After Susan’s passing and Alan’s retirement from the farm, Alan moved to a home right on the lake where he could wake every morning to deer in the yard, and a beautiful view of the lake.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, John and Fern Mishler, his brother, Greg Mishler, his son, Tanner Mishler, and his beloved wife, Susan McDonald Mishler. He is survived by his children and their families, Tanci Mishler and Miguel Restrepo, sons, Nathan and Christopher; Beau and Jessica Mishler, sons, Dominic and Jayden; and Brianna and John Hall, daughters, Norah and Ada. He is survived by his brother Bruce Mishler and family. Alan will be forever in our hearts and always in our mind as we celebrate and enjoy life as he did.
Graveside memorial service will be held at the Ransom Cemetery on Thursday, March 20th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family would like friends and family to bring photos and notes to share with the family.
