
Joseph David "J.D." Farr, 89, was surrounded by his family when he
passed away on Wednesday December 29, 2021, at his home in Garden City,
Kansas. J.D. was born June 6, 1932, in Scott City, Kansas, to Clara Bell
(Brundige) and Thomas Wardlaw Farr. J.D. married Elva Lena Mills on
October 24, 1948, in Colorado.
J.D. owned and operated Farr Construction and Rentals. Building many
residential homes in Garden City and Holcomb, Kansas. J.D. and Elva
belonged to a bowling team in their earlier years and were avid bridge
players. J.D. would enjoy an afternoon at the racetrack occasionally.
Traveling overseas to England, Ireland, and visiting Hawaii was fun
family travel. Together they were supporters of the local YMCA and
enjoyed going to events and games of his grandchildren. J.D. was a
dedicated husband, Elva and J.D. celebrated their 70th wedding
Anniversary in October of 2018. J.D. was a believer in the Bible and
enjoyed daily devotions. Elva is his prayer warrior.
J.D. is survived by his son, Jerry D. Farr and wife Cindy from Florence,
Colorado, a daughter Diana L. Farr and husband Joseph Darif of Garden
City, Kansas. Grandchildren: Jenny and Jim Waddle of Colorado Springs,
Colorado, David and Kelly Farr of Kansas City, Kansas, Jeremy Farr of
Garden City, Kansas, Augustine and Maria Prieto of Dallas, Texas, Scott
and Lisa Farr of Denver, Colorado, Laura Farr of Denver, Colorado, Jacob
Farr of Holcomb, Kansas, Jacquelyn Farr-Porter and Jason Porter of
Garden City, Kansas, and Jentrey Farr Gill of Holcomb, Kansas. 23 Great
Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara Farr, wife
Elva Lena Farr, Sons, Larry Farr and Gary Farr, brothers Ralph Farr,
George Farr, Hamilton Farr, Melvin Farr, Garold Farr, Royal Farr, Paul
Farr, and Ernie Farr, sisters Opal Barber, Sarah Jameson, Isabelle
Sager, and Violet France.
Services will be held January 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Turning Point
Church of the Nazarene, 2720 Campus Dr., Garden City, Kansas with Pastor
Nathan Haeck officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery
with an invitation for all for a meal at the Nazarene Church following.
