KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State women's golf team was picked ninth in the 2023 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, announced Thursday (Aug. 31) by the league office.
The Tigers earned 24 points in the voting process, four in front of 10th-ranked Lincoln and 12 behind eighth-ranked Northwest Missouri State. Defending conference champion Central Missouri was picked to defend their title, edging out second-ranked Rogers State by six points.
Fort Hays State finished 10th at the league meet a year ago, including a third-place finish from conference Player of the Year Morgan Brasser. Brasser, entering her senior season in 2023-24, set the school record with a stroke average of 75.8 last season while winning three tournaments on the year. Also returning for her junior campaign is Shauna Lee, while head coach Jerol DeBoer brought in a trio of freshmen this season - Corbyn Marquess, Ella Neuhauser and Hayden York.
The Tigers are slated to kick off the season in Broomfield, Colo. September 8-9 at The Swan Memorial, hosted by Colorado Christian at the Broadlands Golf Course.
