THOMAS COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 6p.m. Monday in Thomas County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2026 Freightliner driven by Robert J. Bellis, 60, Kansas City, Missouri, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of County Road 11. The vehicle drifted off the road and the driver overcorrected. This caused the hitch for the second trailer to break when it reentered the roadway. The load shifted and the vehicle fell on its passenger side.
EMS transported Bellis to Citizens Medical Center. He was properly restrained, according to the KHP.
