Cindy Lou (Huff) Schmidt

Cindy Lou (Huff) Schmidt, age 62, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at her home in Hays, Kansas.

She was born July 16, 1960, in Hoisington, Kansas, to Robert Dean “Bob” Huff and Alverda Marie (Woolard).  She married David Allen Schmidt on December 31, 1999, at Hays, Kansas.

She grew up in Hays, was a 1978 graduate of Hays High School, and a member of North Oak Community Church Hays, Kansas.  She was a secretary at Roofmasters Roofing in Hays for a number of years, a bartender at the Horseshoe Bar and Grill for 20 years, and worked at Dillons Grocery Store on Vine Street for six years until she retired in 2020, due to her health.  Cindy enjoyed playing darts, playing softball, watching football, bowling, and attending the grandchildren’s activities.

Cindy is survived by her husband, David Allen Schmidt, of the home; her children, Aaron Shoemaker and wife Sarah, Wichita, KS; Brandy Clifford, Larned, KS; Stephanie Holzmeister and  husband, Brock, Liebenthal, KS; Brian Shoemaker, Russell, KS; her grandchildren, Keighlee Wilken; Nolan White; Anastasia Shoemaker; Matthew Shoemaker; Hunter Shoemaker; Raelynn Shoemaker; Wyatt Holzmeister; Avery Holzmeister; Autumn Lawrence; Silas Shoemaker; her father, Robert “Bob” Huff and wife, Jennifer, Hays, KS; her mother, Alverda “Marie” Johnson, Hays, KS; her brothers, Ethan Huff, Hays, KS; Brady Huff, Hays, KS; her sisters, Tammy Schumacher and husband, Tim, Victoria, KS; Karen Howard and husband, Terry, Lyons, KS; Emily Huff, Hays, KS; several nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her step-father, Roger Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at North Oak Community Church, 3000 Oak Street, Hays, Kansas with pastor Josh Gelatt officiating.  Burial will be at Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery Hays, Kansas, with Military Honors by the Hays V.F.W. Post No. 9076. The funeral procession will be escorted to the cemetery by the Legion Riders.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at North Oak Community Church.
