A Ransom man faces charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 that occurred more than seven years ago.
Robert Wayne Evel, 53, has been charged with aggravated criminal sodomy with a child under the age of 14 years old, attempted rape of a child under the age of 14 years old and aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 years old. The incident allegedly occurred between June 1, 2015, and Aug. 31, 2015.
According to court documents, the victim was 10 years old at the time.
Evel was officially charged this month in Ellis County District Court and pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
A jury trial has been scheduled for May 1.
