Backpacks for Kids is a program coordinated by First Call for Help in Hays.

The program is dedicated to help families in the community and to ensure students start the school year off with the needed supplies.

On July 23, Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless stationed their volunteers at Walmart to collect schools supplies for students in Ellis County.

Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless volunteers gathered items leading up to July 23 for Backpacks for Kids drive. They also collected up to $250 in cash donations and enough supplies to fill the needs of students.

"Nex-Tech Wireless is proud to partner with Nex-Tech to help support local organizations like First Call for Help of Ellis County. Their Backpacks for Kids program is an amazing asset to our community. We'd like to thank everyone who donated so we can ensure hundreds of Ellis County children will have a great start to their school year," said Jon Lightle, president and CEO of Nex-tech Wireless.

After collecting the donations given by the community, employees filled the tables full of supplies for volunteers to start packing the backpacks.

Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech wireless also each donated $500 to First Call for Help.
