As of the Kansas Drought Monitor report released this morning, Ellis County is out of drought.
The map only counts precipitation through Tuesday.
Although repeated summer storms have brought most of central and eastern Kansas out of drought, some northwestern and southwestern Kansas counties and still remain in drought as the of the report measured on Tuesday.
As of the Kansas Ag Research Center weather report this morning at 8 a.m., Hays has received 5.51 inches of rain for the month of June and 11.62 inches of precipitation year to date.
The average for June for Hays is 3.38 inches of rain, and the average precipitation by the end of June for Hays is 11.31 inches of precipitation.
Ellis County is in a flood watch until 1 a.m. Friday. Skies are forecast to clear Friday with a high of 78. Heat is forecast to return during the weekend with highs in the upper 90s.
