David Charles Meile, age 50, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Wednesday, January
27, 2021, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was
born October 29, 1970, in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Pamela
(Metcalf) Meile.
David grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1989.
He continued his education at Fort Hays State University where he
earned a degree in Industrial Technology, and was a member of SigEp
Fraternity. After college, he came back to Ulysses and became the
General Manager at Marvin’s Farm Equipment and Repair. David married
Shan Britton on June 13, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of
the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of
Trustees; and was a lifetime member of the NRA. David enjoyed hunting,
fishing, and going to the gun range. He loved going to the lake,
boating and jet skiing, watching K-State football and tailgating. And
most importantly, David loved spending time with his girls, the lights
of his life!
David is survived by his wife, Shan of the home; daughters, Reile Meile
and Britton Meile both of the home; parents, Marvin and Pamela Meile of
Ulysses; brothers, Nathan Meile and wife Megan of Wamego, Kansas, and
Chris Meile of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Susan Britton;
brother-in-law, Josh Britton and wife Sarah of Ulysses; sisters-in-law,
Cara Britton of Ulysses, and Jenna Britton of Wichita; aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents; C.J. Metcalf, Eunice
Metcalf Smith, George Wiliam (Bill) Smith, David F. Meile, and Carrie
Meile; and father-in-law, Roger Britton.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the
First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Todd
Guinn officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. The
funeral service will also be live streamed on Garnand Funeral Home
Facebook page. Visitation will be Friday, January 29, 2021, from 2:00
PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to
