Elsie Ann Urban, 88, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas.

Elsie was born June 18, 1935, in Rush County, Kansas, the daughter of Felix and Caroline (Schuckman) Kuhn. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1953 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, she was a farmer, rancher, and homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and St. Ann’s Altar Society, both of Liebenthal, Kansas.

On May 24, 1955, she married Norbert W. Urban at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. He preceded her in death February 9, 2021.

Elsie was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved farming and ranching alongside her husband, Norbert. She had many interests, a few of those included word search puzzles, shark’s tooth hunting, cooking, sewing, gardening, making t-shirt and blue jean quilts, camping with her family, garage sales, and road trips. Elsie enjoyed her friends and the time they spent together. She was an avid KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals fan. Many memories were made on the family “hay less hayrides” each summer.

Survivors include: one daughter, Pamela Leiker (Richard), La Crosse, Kansas; two sons, Glen Urban (Pam), Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Brent Urban, Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Amber Irvin (Chad), Jason Leiker, Nathan Urban (Shannon), and Anisha Urban; eight great grandchildren, Audrey Irvin, Chet Irvin, Hadley Leiker, Lyndon Leiker,

Killian Urban, Elsa Urban, Rosalyn Urban, and Kamdyn Urban, and one brother, Harlen Kuhn, Imperial, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister in law, Marietta Kuhn.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas. A rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.

Church visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Liebenthal, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family request memorials St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas, or Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.
