Hays Recreation Commission
The Hays Recreation Commission is excited to provide an update on plans for a new recreation facility designed to expand recreational opportunities and serve the Hays community for years to come.
The project is currently in the design phase, with HRC working alongside a team of local and regional professionals:
· Architect: Schaefer Architecture
• Construction Manager at Risk: PWC, Inc.
• Project Engineer: Sloan Engineering and Consulting
The current facility design includes two full-size gymnasiums, walking/running track, a multi-purpose room, restrooms, a concession stand, two offices, a lobby, and approximately 113 parking stalls.
While these elements make up the current design, plans are not yet final. As community partners express interest in becoming involved with the project, the design has the potential to evolve and accommodate additional new and exciting features. HRC looks forward to exploring opportunities that could enhance the facility and provide even more recreational opportunities for the community.
HRC is actively reaching out to and working with organizations, businesses, and individuals who are interested in supporting the project. Community partnerships and donations will play an important role in helping make this facility a reality and determining what additional opportunities may be possible.

The Hays Recreation Commission would especially like to recognize Hale Sloan of Sloan Engineering and Consulting, who has generously donated his engineering services to the project in their entirety.
Hale recognizes the direct benefit this project can have on Hays and the surrounding community for generations to come. His generosity and commitment to the community are greatly appreciated by the Hays Recreation Commission Board and staff.
