Kansas man hospitalized after semi strikes pickup on I-70

THOMAS COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 1p.m. Monday in Thomas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2025 Freightliner semi driven by Ryan Joseph Silva, 45, Thornton, Colorado, was westbound on Interstate 70 near the Brewster exit.

The semi drifted into the passing lane and struck a 2021 Ford F150 driven by Brandon MIles Smith, 48, Wichita.  After impact the pickup  rotated around the semi and came to rest in the north ditch. 

EMS transported Smith to Citizens Medical Center in Colby. Silva was not injured. Both driver were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
