⛳ HHS finishes third at own regional, qualifies for state

HAYS – The Hays High boys golf team used their home course to their advantage Monday. The Indians shot a 359 which was good enough for third place at the Hays 5A Regional at Smoky Hill Country Club. Salina South won the regional title with a 353, two shots ahead of Hutchinson and six better than Hays High.

Hutchinson’s Ty Adkins won the individual title with a 7-over-par 78. Salina South sophomore Jackson Perry was three shots back and finished second with a 10-over-par 81. The Cougars Maddox Xaysongkham finished in third place with an 82.

Hays High had four golfers finish in the top-20. Landen Clark placed sixth with a 17-over-par 88, Ashton Bickle was one shot back and finished in seventh place with an 89. Blake Buckles fired a 91 and was part of a seven-way tie for 10th place which included freshman Caleb Thompson.
