Kansas man hospitalized after pickup crash into building

SMITH COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 8:30a.m. Friday in Smith County.

 The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Ford F150 driven by Randall Gass, 86, Esbon, pulled into a parking stall at the Nex-Tech building, 705 F Street in Smith Center.

The driver pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. The pickup hit the the front of the building.

EMS transported Gass and a passenger Ernest Childers, 63, Esbon, to the Smith County Hospital. Childers had no apparent injuries. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
