🎽 Area cross county highlights from state races

1A
The Quinter Bulldogs claimed the 1A Boys team title over Pratt-Skyline and Meade on Saturday. Elliot Chruchwell led the Bulldogs with a third place finish. Hans Deaton was seventh and Kendrick Selensky crossed in twelfth. 

Broxton Gall of Ness City was state runner-up crossing in 17:08.61.

Avery Boydston from Ellis ran a 19.32.33 time to claim the 1A girls championship. Quinter's Brooklyn Countryman placed in 13th. Cheyenne Hoeting of Stockton was 15th. 

The Ness City girls finished third as a team in the same 1A race. Stephany Esparza led the way with a 14th finish. 

2A
Michael Haffner led the Hoxie Indians with a 9th place finish and Aaron Keith followed his teammate in 12th. Hoxie finished just six points from a state trophy in fourth place.

Smith Center's Gavin Hickert was 18th.

Madison Howland crossed the line in 18:50.76 as the state champion. She won by just shy of 33 seconds.

The Hoxie girls placed third as a team. Taegan Lindeman led the team with a sixth place finish.

Norton's Emma Collins, 10th, and Kaison Miller, 16th,  finished inside the top 20. Tianna Lutters of Hoisington was 17th.

In the boys' race Kamden Tarlton of Hoisington, 9th, and Brody Rossman, 14th, both of Hoisington took home a state medal.
