
Michael James Gensil, 47, of Colby, Kansas died December 16, 2020 in the
Rehabilitation Hospital of Overland Park, Overland Park, Kansas. He was
born January 29, 1973 to Michael and Patty Jo (Carney) Gensil in
Goodland, Kansas.
Michael attended Elementary School in Goodland, Kansas living with his
mother and Colby High School living with his Grandparent James (Jim) and
Betty Carney.
He liked to ride his motorcycle and take his red pickup truck mud
bogging and race remote cars. Michael helped his grandpa and uncles work
on cars and trucks growing up. He liked working with the vehicle’s
parts. He started learning more about vehicle parts working at Muffler
Plus then to Carquest and John Deere and finally as Parts Manager at
Foley Equipment.
Michael is survived by his daughter Darion Joanne Meyer, Manhattan, KS;
brother Lance D. (B. J.) Gensil; aunt Linda J. (Gerald) Thiele,
Champaign, IL; 3 uncles, Howard E. (LeAnne) Carney, Brewster, KS, Ross
E. (Cathy) Carney, Colby, KS, and Thomas A. (Lisa) Carney, Sylvan Grove,
Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Jo Gensil,
Goodland, KS; grandparents, James and Betty (Ramsey) Carney; aunt Ruth
E. (Carney) Burns; 2 uncles, Robert “Bob” L. Carney, Colby, KS and John
Henry Carney, Colby, KS; cousin Seth Carney, Topeka, KS;
great-grandparents, David and Ofa (Bailey) Carney, Colby, KS and
Columbus B. Ramsey and Pearl (Nichols/Ramsey) Nelson, Colby, KS.
There will be a funeral procession, led by motorcycles, starting at 2:00
p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Colby American Legion and ending
at Beulah Cemetery, Colby, where a graveside service will take place.
