Joanne L. (Moreland) Miller

Almena resident, Joanne L. (Moreland) Miller passed away Dec. 20, 2021 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton at the age of 78.

Joanne was born Oct. 16, 1943 in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Lloyd and Gladys (Gipe) Moreland. She attended school in Almena.

On Dec. 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Larry Miller.  They had one daughter, Teresa.

Joanne worked at the Norton State Hospital for several years as a LMHT and then for Northern Valley Grade School as a para and school secretary until her retirement in 2006.

Joanne was a member of the Almena Congregational Church and was an active member of the women’s fellowship.

Joanne dearly loved her family and friends. She enjoyed having them to her home for coffee and brownies. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved decorating for it.

She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Moreland; mother Gladys Peters; brothers Richard “Dick” Moreland, William “Bill” Alexander, and Lyman Delimont; and sisters Loretta Groom and Marilyn Garrison.

Survivors include her husband Larry Miller of Almena; daughter Teresa Randolph and husband Len of Jennings; two grandchildren Sean Fritz and wife Tammy of Lincoln, Neb. and Janelle Tanking and husband AJ of Overland Park; and two great-grandchildren Jace and Brielle; along with many other relatives and friends.

Cremation was planned. No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Almena Congregational Church c/o Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, P. O. Box 563, Phillipsburg, KS  67661.
