
Ronald Lee Braun, age 83, of Hays, Kansas, former Victoria, Kansas resident, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Hays Medical Center,
He was born on January 20, 1943, in Hays, Kansas to Peter J. and Alice (Von Lintel) Braun. Ron married the love of his life Gloria (Leiker) on July 13, 1963, in Hays, Kansas.
He grew up on the family farm north of Victoria, Kansas, and was a 1961 graduate of Victoria High School. He worked a number of years for Paul Linenberger as a bricklayer. Ron was the Petroleum Manager at Hays Farmers Co-op, now Midland Marketing for 22 years and retired in 1989. He continued farming until 2021.
He was a member of The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, and 4th Degree Assembly, a former member of the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department, served for four years on the Victoria U.S.D. # 432 School Board, and served for six years on the Hays Farmers Credit Union Board, now High Plains Credit Union.
Over the years Ron and Gloria enjoyed farming, camping, fishing, dancing, he liked the Casinos, but he wasn’t going to let them get ahead of him, and most of all he enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Gloria, of the home; his children, Marla Braun, Hays, KS; Sandee Werth and husband, Tim, Hays, KS; David Braun and wife, Kori, Victoria, KS; Jared Braun and wife, Angie, Garfield, AR; his grandchildren, Taylor Wasinger (Alexandria); Bryce Wasinger; Collin Werth; Tanner Werth; Cale Braun; Larryn Braun; Ethan Hamilton and fiancé,(Kirsten Marcotte); his great grandchildren, Joshua Wasinger and Weston Wasinger; his siblings, Pete Braun Jr., Hays, KS; Judy Evans, Garden City, KS; Charlotte Weber, Victoria, KS; Samuel Braun and wife, Marilyn, Victoria, KS; Debra Geschwentner and husband, Tony, Victoria, KS; Marilyn Giebler and husband, Rick, Catharine, KS; Carolyn Younger and husband, Neal, Munjor, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. and Alice Braun; his siblings, Darlene Braun and Donald Braun; his brothers-in-law, Richard Brungardt, Don Wallace, Lavon Weber; his sisters-in-law, Vera Braun and Tina Geist-Braun; his grandchild, Colleen Hamilton and her daughter, Stormi; and Jerry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, 900 Cathedral Ave., Victoria, Kansas with Concelebrants, Fr. Curtis Carlson O.F.M. Cap. and Fr. John Schmeidler. Burial will be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.
A Vigil Service and a Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree Rosary with the Victoria Daughters of Isabella joining will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis.
