
Gerald “Dean” Strutt passed away on May 29, 2021, at his home in
Stockton, KS, at the age of 87. He was born to Theodore and Sarah
(Cadoret) Strutt on March 5, 1934 in Rural Osborne County. He was united
in marriage to Clara Lee Livingston on May 1, 1956 at Gretna, KS. They
were married 65 years and were blessed with two children: Mickey and
Gail.
Dean grew up in Osborne County and attended several different
country schools. His favorite was Greenwood School with teacher Ruth
Hikesmith. He graduated from Pleasant Plains School and went to work for
a farmer north of Alton. He worked on the Webster Dam running a scraper
for about three years, and then to Frank Walkers Service Station. Last,
he worked for Rooks County from 1958 to 1994 when he retired. He was
then elected Rooks County Commissioner for four years. Dean was baptized
at the Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, KS.
Left to cherish Dean’s memories is his wife, Clara Strutt of the
home in Stockton; children, Mickey (Marcia) Strutt of McPherson and Gail
(Diana) Strutt of Stockton; brother, Joseph (Ada) Strutt of Stockton;
sisters, Gertrude (Howard) Morgan of Marion, KS and Judith (Tom) Butler
of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Bonnie Strutt of Lincoln, KS; five
grandchildren, Bradley Strutt, Hayley (Steven) Moll, Macey Strutt, Ryan
(Lisa) Strutt, and Shawn Strutt; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Max,
Sadie, and Jack Strutt, and Lincoln and Theodore Moll.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Sarah Strutt; sister, Bernice Strutt; and youngest brother, Francis Strutt.
The family plans to honor Dean’s wishes with a private service at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Dean Strutt Memorial Fund (to be
