Dorothy J. Evans, age 85, of Oakley, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, KS. She was born on September 27, 1935 in rural Scott City, Scott County to Roy and Iva (Crane) Rose. She married Leland Frank Evans on May 23, 1954 in Oakley, and was a farmer's wife and a long time area resident.
Dorothy enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with
friends. She was involved in bible studies, teaching bible school, and
Sunday school. She liked flying with her husband, Leland, and going on
fly-ins to meet up with friends, and taking family to go to other fun
places. She also enjoyed going to horse shows to watch her youngest
daughter participate and then later on, watching her grandchildren play
sports. Dorothy was a member of the Country Chapel and the Gove
Community Bible Church.
She was preceded in death by her
parents: Roy R. Rose and Iva M. (Crane) Rose, husband Leland (1987),
siblings: Ona Mae Marmon, Bernard Rose, Lyle Rose, Gene Rose, Selaura
Campbell, Conrad Rose, and Bruce Rose.
Dorothy is survived by her
son, Kent Evans (Brenda) of Oakley, three daughters: Cindy Fink (Lee)
of Monument, Jennie Koehn (Brad) of Tribune, and Shonda Johnson of
Oakley; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a
great-great-granddaughter, her sister, Royla Radina of Amarillo, TX, and
many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday,
October 24, 2020 at the Oakley Christian Church with Pastor Kyle Evans,
officiating. Burial will follow in the Gove Cemetery. Visitation: 5 –
7 p.m. Friday, October 23 at the church. The family will receive
friends from 5 – 6 p.m. Memorials to the Timberlake Youth Ranch Camp
