🥎 Indians go 2-0, Monarchs 0-2 in Salina

SALINA - The Hays High softball team went 2-0 in Salina Thursday. The Indians beat TMP-Marian 12-2 then knocked off the host Sacred Heart Knights 4-2.

The Indians (8-5) broke open a one-run game with the Monarchs by scoring three in the fifth then six in the sixth. Brenna Schwien drove in three runs, Sydney Fagan and Madyson Sennett both had two RBIs.

The Indians were down 2-0 after one inning against Sacred Heart, but tied it in the second, scoring twice on an error. They took the lead for good with two runs in the third on a Schwien single.

Aubree Thomas picked up the win in both games, allowing one earned run on the day.

The Monarchs (5-5) lost their first game with Sacred Heart 9-8. TMP led 3-0 in the first then scored five runs in the top of the sixth to build an 8-4 lead but the Knights rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game then took advantage of an error followed by a single in the seventh for the walkoff win.

The Monarchs committed nine errors in the game which resulted in eight unearned runs.

Emilee Augustine had three hits, two of them doubles, and drove in two runs.
