Bonnie Zelda Stute

Bonnie Zelda Stute was born March 24, 1944, at home in Ojito, New Mexico, the thirteenth child of Fred and Alma (Hoisinger) Davis. She went to her Savior September 5, 2021.

Bonnie lived a wonderful life, fueled by her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and continuing to be a devout Christian her whole life. Bonnie attended primary school in Lindrith, New Mexico and graduated from Cuba High School, Cuba, New Mexico. She obtained her Associates Degree from Oklahoma School of Business and was employed by Manpower Inc.

In 1963 she met Daryl Edward Stute, an Aviation Fuel Specialist for the United States Air Force. They were united in marriage at Sunnylane United Methodist Church March 21, 1964. Their first child, Melanie Dawn, was born January 9, 1967, and their second child Michael Roy, born November 25, 1968, in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

They moved to Kansas, first to El Dorado, then to Canton where they resided for 45 years before moving to Hill City in 2018.

While living in Canton she served as secretary for the Canton United Methodist Church, was Director of the Canton Senior Center for 14 years, and librarian for Canton Carnegie Library for 11 years.

She loved her flower gardens, all colors and all sorts of flowers and plants. She loved to watch the butterflies and birds that adorned her garden, she was especially excited when a cardinal appeared. Bonnie was well known for her baking, pies being her real specialty.

Bonnie was always ready and willing to travel anywhere and everywhere. This was evident since she traveled to 45 of the 50 states. Of course, her greatest joy was being with her family and friends. She graced this Earth with her presence, having touched so many lives in a multitude of special ways.

Preceding her in death were six sisters: Thelma Anson, Clara Young, Violet Howard, Ruth Gawith, Anna Archuleta, and Earlene Handke; two brothers: Harold and Freeman.

She is survived by husband Daryl, her two children, Melanie Kennedy, Hill City, and Michael Stute of Panama City, Panama; seven grandchildren: Megan, Ryan, and Carrie Kennedy, Kelsey Stute Coker, Eddie, Noah, and Nala Stute; Four great grandchildren: Nathan, Chandra, and Athena Coker, and Samuel Ramirez. Also surviving are her sisters: Lois Richards, Irene Ozanich, and Gladys Yancey, and two brothers Oliver and wife Danella, and Donald and wife Sharon; many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as numerous friends.
