LOGAN —  Have you ever admired the rich, vibrant colors of chalk pastel artwork and wondered how it was created? Or perhaps you already enjoy working with pastels and would welcome the opportunity to spend a day creating alongside other artists. The Hansen Museum invites both new and experienced artists to enjoy Introduction to Chalk Pastels, a hands-on class led by artist and instructor Laurie Albin.

The workshop will be held Saturday, October 24, at the Logan Youth Center, 402 W. Church Street, Logan.

While the class is designed as an introduction for those who are new to chalk pastels, artists with previous experience are also encouraged to attend. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend the day creating and enjoying the company of others.

Throughout the day, Albin will guide participants through techniques for blending and layering pastels to create depth, dimension, and visual interest. Participants will also explore composition and developing form as they discover how simple techniques can bring a pastel composition to life.

The registration fee is $35, with discounts available for sustaining and patron Hansen Museum members.

Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. To register, call the Hansen Museum or find the registration form at www.hansenmuseum.org under Classes & Workshops.

Introduction to Chalk Pastels is part of the Hansen Museum Continuing Education Program, funded by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.

The Museum is open weekdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.; Saturdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m.; Sundays and holidays 1-5 p.m. The Museum is closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It is handicap-accessible, and thanks to the generosity of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, admission is always free.
