St. George, KS - Hays High (#4-5A) finished the 2025 portion of their season with a 55-45 victory over Rock Creek (#6-4A) on Saturday. The victory earned a third place finish for the Indians in the Flurry on Flush tournament hosted by Rock Creek High School.
Hays (7-1) trailed just once in the victory. The Mustangs took an 8-7 lead with 4:30 left in the first quarter. The Indians answered right back with an 11-3 run that gave Hays an 18-11 advantage with a minute left in the first.
Hays took a ten point edge into the second quarter and quickly pushed lead to a game high 16 points at 31-15 at the five minute mark. Rock Creek took a timeout and started their own run while Hays went scoreless for the next 4:27.
The Mustangs scored seven answered points to make it a single digit difference at 31-22 with two minutes left in the half. The Indians' only points in the final 4:50 of the second quarter came on three Brynlee Rupp free throws after being fouled on a three point attempt. Those points gave Hays a 34-22 lead at half.
Highlights
Hays maintained the lead at 12 through the first two minutes of the third quarter. Five quick points from Rock Creek got the the Mustangs within seven points at 38-31 midway through the third. Hays responded with three straight field goal makes to go back up by double figures at 44-31 with just over a minute left in the third quarter.
Hays led by 13 points early in the fourth quarter only to have the Mustangs pull back within nine midway through the frame at 49-40. The Indians allowed just five point over the final 4:15 of the game, winning 55-45.

Hays put three in double figures for a second time in the tournament. Rupp established career highs in points (11) and rebounds (5.)
Hays returns to action January 6th when they host Manhattan.
