The Fort Hays State women's basketball continued its run in both national polls entering the NCAA Tournament this week. The Tigers are No. 11 in the WBCA Top 25 Poll and No. 16 in the D2CSC Top 25 Media Poll in the latest releases of each on Tuesday.
Four of the teams participating in the Central Regional of the NCAA Tournament this week are ranked among the Top 25 of the WBCA Poll. Regional host Pittsburg State leads the way at No. 7, while Concordia-St. Paul is right behind at No. 8. FHSU is No. 11, while Southwest Minnesota State is No. 18. Three of the other four teams competing in the regional are among the receiving votes section, which includes Minnesota State, Southern Nazarene, and Harding. Missouri Western is the only team among the eight-team regional not receiving votes in the WBCA poll, however it is receiving votes in the D2CSC poll.
Fort Hays State enters the NCAA Tournament at 27-4 overall after making it to the MIAA Tournament championship game. The 27 wins for the Tigers are their most since the 2021-22 season when they finished with 30.
Fort Hays State has now been listed in the top 25 120 times. FHSU is 184-47 when ranked and 131-28 when ranked inside the top 10. The Tigers are now 13-4 in the MIAA Championship while ranked.
The Tigers will open the NCAA Tournament on Friday (March 14, 12 p.m.) when they play Southern Nazarene.
