Karen Mae “Karyn” (Forsythe) Schumacher, age 60, of Hays, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Hays Medical Center,
Karyn was born January 12, 1962, in Hays, Kansas, to Donald Bert and Olga (Villar) Forsythe. She married Jay Naldo Schumacher.
Karyn was a co-owner of Heartland Crafts & Gifts in Hays, and owned a house cleaning service for a number of years. Karyn took a lot of pride in her work for her clients that she cleaned for. Karyn wanted everything to be top notched when she was done with her job. Karyn grew up in Hays and was a 1980 graduate of Hays High School. Karyn also worked at the Ellis County Dispatch, Carlos O’Kelly’s Restaurant, and Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant. Karyn lived in Victoria most of her adult life then moved to Hays. Karyn enjoyed crafts, going to garage sales, and had a great love for animals.
Survivors include her son, Jeremiah and wife, Kayci, Hays, KS; her seven grandchildren, Ben, Ella, Jack, Max, Oliver, Claire, Sam; her brother, John Forsythe; FL; and her sister, Sue Rohr and husband, Mike, Newton, KS. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the High Plains Baptist Church, 2700 Canterbury Road, Hays, Kansas with Pastor Russell Kirkpatrick and assisted by Brett Denham. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at High Plains Baptist Church.
The family suggests memorials payable to the organization OPTIONS for “domestic abuse and recovery” or Humane Society of the High Plains in care of the mortuary.
