A Hays man was arrested Friday on two counts of alleged aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

According to public records, 19-year-old Aramist David McCottry had been out on a $15,000 bond for a previous case involving a minor before the bond was revoked on Aug. 29.

Public records state that on about May 18, McCottry allegedly used Snapchat to encourage a minor to assist in the distribution of marijuana.

He was arrested in May on requested charges of distribution of marijuana between 25 and 450 grams, contributing to a child’s misconduct by encouraging a child to commit a felony, and using a communication facility in the commission of a felony drug violation.

McCottry also faces three misdemeanor counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct by encouraging a child to remain or become a child in need of care.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 15 regarding the charges from May.

Police released no other information on the indecent liberties allegations.

Hays Deputy Police Chief Tim Greenwood said the indecent liberties case is still under investigation.
