HAYS - Garden City put an exclamation mark on its undefeated conference soccer championship Thursday with a 3-1 victory over Hays High on the Indians’ home field.
Hays High led at halftime on a Brecken Otte goal before Garden City outscored the Indians 3-0 in the second half for the victory that moved them to 13-1-1 on the season. The Buffaloes won the Western Athletic Conference championship with a 7-0-1 record.
Following the contest, Hays High (6-8 overall, 2-6 WAC) honored seven seniors in their final home game: Erik Cisneros, Eduardo Maldonado, Kal Lonsdale, Chase Zadina, Jacob Hemphill, Andres Cisneros-Salas and Jhonnathan Hernandez.
The Indians will close out their regular season Tuesday at Hesston, then look ahead to postseason and the Class 5A playoffs.
