Larry Joseph Schmidtberger age 70, of Victoria, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home.

He was born February 25, 1955, in Hays, Kansas to Aquilinus “Ike” and Albertina (Sander) Schmidtberger.  He married Rachel M. (Ramsey) on November 22, 2015, in Victoria, Kansas.

Larry was a line worker for 34 years at EnerSys battery plant in Hays, former (Yuasa-Exide).

He grew up in Victoria, and was a 1973 graduate of Victoria High School.  Larry and Rachel were foster parents for over 8 years for Saint Francis Ministries of Hays, and were named Foster Parents of the year for 2025.  Larry enjoyed working out, his long walks, bike riding, and close to his heart were his grandkids and family.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Schmidtberger, of the home; his children, Michael Schmidtberger and wife, Marcey, Walker, KS; Richard Schmidtberger and Skeeter Gleason, both of the home; his grandchildren, Raymond Schmidtberger, Victoria, KS; Kiley Beagley and husband, Braden, Russell, KS; Cole Schmidtberger and wife, Jalyn Dinkel-Schmidtberger, Victoria, KS; his great grandchildren, Kailey and Briggs Beagley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Raileene Ramsay, Russell; his brothers, Ike Jr. Schmidtberger and wife, Betty, Newton, KS; Richard Schmidtberger and wife, Debbie, Newton; his sisters, Connie England, Weatherford, TX; Alice Peterka, Wilson, KS; Clara Walters and husband, Tom, Catharine, KS; Joanne Detwiler, Concordia, KS ; Arlene Delka Guide Rock, NE; Mary Ann Schmidtberger, Derby, Kansas; Diane Blumenthal, Lincoln, NE; Cathy Schmidtberger and significant other, Robert Lang, Bedford, TX; his brothers-in-law, Don Urban, Loretta, KS; Charlie Ramsey, Wichita, KS; Joey Ramsey, Minneola, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Aquilinus “Ike” and Albertina Schmidtberger; his brother, Verlin and (JoAnn) Schmidtberger; his sister, Sharon Urban; his brothers-in-law, Coy Blumental; Robert England; Bill Delka; and Don Peterka.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas with Reverend Troy Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas.
