Bernadine Marie Moeder

Bernadine Marie Moeder passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022, at the age of 96. Bernadine was born April 27, 1925, in Redwing, Kansas, the daughter of Adolph and Carrie (Linsner) Demel. She was raised in Odin, Kansas and graduated from Odin High School. After marrying Raymond (Ray) Moeder on April 8, 1947, she spent the remainder of her life in Great Bend, Kansas.  Ray passed away Dec. 23, 2007.

Bernadine was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose Catholic Church and the Altar Society.  Bernadine became skilled at stretching the dollars to feed her family as well as sewing clothes that became hand me downs for many. She will fondly be remembered for her cinnamon rolls and her afghans.

Bernadine is survived by 12 of her children, Ray Moeder Jr. (Carol) of Larned, Don Moeder (Marilyn) of Great Bend, Joyce Moeder, of Columbia, Maryland, Ken Moeder (Marcia) of Great Bend, Jolene Biggs (Craig) of Great Bend, Bob Moeder (Katie) of Overland Park, Alan Moeder (Gail) of Great Bend, Randy Moeder (Patty) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Pat Moeder (Amy) of Winter Springs, Florida, Linda Salem (Bob) of Salina, Brenda Moeder, of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Renee Rockers (Wes) of Evansville, Indiana.  She is survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is additionally survived by 4 siblings, Cecilia Schneweis, Bill Demel, Jim Demel and Jerry Demel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Juno and Eleanor Reif; her daughter Donna Schmidt; as well as her husband Ray who she was married to for 60 years.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil service with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend.  In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Almost Home, Inc. or the Barton County College Foundation Memorial Scholarship for Donna Schmidt, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
